yeah, definite cultural difference from the u.s. japan is like that too, but it seemed like people off the streets there don't really speak english too well. anyway, i would be very uncomfortable with that situation as well... but i guess your "best" position there is to accept and adjust to it? i can't believe your boss' solution though! wtf. it's interesting to see the difference in education systems around the world.

I would definitely give stink-face striped shirt best student of the day as he's very astute to smells. I would give devil card to sneaky-looking black shirt boy in the back as he is obviously up to something. I miss the dickens out of you!

oh my goodness! Looking at those faces of those little ones on this post, they are all little dolls. But a very competitive society, for sure. Dev, very clever response!

It does make you consider the difference here in the US, where everyone wins, and the striving to learn isn't the norm but for the "nerds". Which is more sad?

I guess that is a cultural difference I just couldn't get used to, either. However, there are several people at work that I could give those unused cards to, if you need to offload them. Please FedEx them, actually, as I really just don't have the patience to wait until 1:55 and see the looks on their faces. ;) Just kidding.

I don't think you realize that you are in an incredible bargaining position. See how much these cards are worth to your kids. Start asking for stuff. You never know- you might just get a year's supply of peanut butter...
